Submitting claims for telehealth services?

Include these essential details for smooth reimbursement

To support timely and accurate reimbursement, Magellan’s Payment Integrity Unit encourages providers to consistently capture all required documentation when delivering care via telehealth. Complete documentation helps avoid delays and ensures compliance with reimbursement standards. Key elements in the patient’s medical record include:

  • A signed telehealth consent form
  • Visit type (audio-only or audio and video)
  • Start and stop times or total duration of the visit
  • Patient and provider locations (e.g., home, office)
  • Names of all participants involved in the telehealth session

In addition, please include the appropriate telehealth modifier or place of service code on all claims.
