What to know about virtual credit cards - Provider Portal
What you need to know about virtual credit card automatic opt in
(And how to opt out)
ECHO Health* is Magellan Healthcare’s vendor that processes claims payments (except for the Employee Assistance Program and Pennsylvania HealthChoices).
Virtual credit cards
ECHO’s provider portal automatically defaults to virtual credit card (VCC) payment, unless you opt out of this payment type.
To opt out of VCC payments:
- Visit echovcards.com to manage payments online, which includes an option to enroll for EFT.
OR
- Contact ECHO at the customer service number listed on the provider explanation of provider payment (EPP).
OR
- Contact the ECHO virtual credit card team at 877-705-4230.
If you opt out of VCC payments, make sure to use the remaining balance on any VCCs you received.
Why this matters
Magellan has noticed a trend of providers not using the payments issued to them via VCCs or leaving balances on VCCs. When this happens, payments must eventually be converted to paper checks, which causes undue delays in payment.
ECHO VCC’s are based on Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) and billing locations. When a provider changes their billing location address, this action will trigger a new VCC.
